Back home

This one is also SOOC. I'll get around to editing these someday, right now too busy editing the wedding I shot a few weeks ago.

W is happy to back in his little room with his favorite toys and books. I took this sneakily from the doorway, trying not to disturb him. I had been folding laundry and kept peeking back in. He can now climb up on all of our furniture by himself. Getting so big!

I love this

I love:

1. That you can always tell when I haven't taken my 365 photo by the end of the day, because never fail, it will be something taken out on the porch. After I put William to bed, it's getting dark in the house, so I always remember at the last minute to run outside and snap something.

2. That this is SOOC (straight out of the camera - not edited at all). Love that bokeh.

3. Love that views through liquid appear to be upside down.

4. The drink! Don't worry, I know you're thinking, "WOW. That's a big glass of wine." It's half soda water :)

Bye bye, Hilton Head!

Drying off after a quick last trip to the pool, before we hopped in the car for our ride back home to Pennsylvania.

Update on the Hair Situation

I poked a little fun at Esch last week when he accidentally shaved off all of his hair.

Luckily for him, he's a handsome fella. I actually kind of like the results, a few days in... here he is on a bikeride on the beach.

Beach bum

Someone really got into the beach spirit. He'd play hard for hours, digging in the sand, asking to go "boom" (jump in the waves), and then take a well-deserved juice and snack break.

Wet one

The sprinklers on the golf course came on each evening (past what is usually William's bedtime) and twice we let him run around in them... too cute! He was a wild man dashing in and out of the spray, giggling and screaming. I love this one of his hair. I can just smell it now... a hot, humid, salty beach night, mixed with a little bit of sweet baby shampoo.

Perfect Father's Day

Can't wait to edit some of the beach shots... here is W with his Daddy, his very first time at the beach, dipping his little toes into the surf. He absolutely loved it (and I had of course been dying to photograph it all)!

Golf addict

Our beach house was right on the Harbour Town golf course in Hilton Head, and our first evening there, W got to run around the 2nd tee, which was the view from our porch. We got to watch the golfers tee off every morning as we had our coffee. Grandpa is a big golfer, and we all had fun with this, especially William.

He would say "Oooooh!" when the players teed off. Some were amused, some were not. :)

Little Traveler

We are back from the beach (William's first time!) and of course I took hundreds of photos.

I haven't edited yet, so here are a few in the meantime!

Stopping to get into PJs on our drive to South Carolina! All ready with his beach bag.

Mugshot

I've been swamped with editing this week (a wedding and 3 newborns since Saturday) and didn't get my camera out all day today... until I had to document this. Esch was trimming his hair and apparently forgot to put the guard back on (I don't know if that's the right term... clueless about the tools he uses) and literally shaved his head bald. He took one big long swipe right down the middle of his head before he noticed, so he had to go the rest of the way.

Luckily he's so nice - he could never look scary. My loveable convict.

(Note: The aforementioned grooming incident actually took place last night - took this photo tonight, so we're looking at a whole 24 hours of growth here. If possible, he was even more cueball-esque last night! Love you, Honey.)

The Boo-Boo

Poor W. He scraped his elbow a few days ago while carrying out one of his almost-constant gymnastic feats. This was his first little "injury" that he's really understood, thought about, and remembered. He keeps stopping in his tracks, holding the afflicted area and getting a very concerned look on his face as he tells me "Mama? Boo-boo. Boo-boo."

Just a snapshot to remember this cute phase.

Preemie

This little guy was 5 weeks early, and the youngest newborn I've ever worked with. He was so precious. Loved his little hand tucked up, all snuggled in.

Gorgeous

I think that this is one of the most beautiful baby girls I've ever met!

Newborn session (one week old).

True love

William is getting so big, but he sometimes still reaches for our hands.

Snuck this one on Sunday while walking around at a little local festival.

Here Comes the Bride

I am still exhausted from this beautiful wedding yesterday. We shot from 2-11:00p.m. It rained most of the day, yet we still had a great time and got some beautiful shots.

Saving most of them for the Bride, but I liked this one of her last peek in the mirror with her Dad, before heading downstairs to the hotel lobby to meet her Groom.

More lens love

Took the rental out for another spin this evening - just adore it, and am going to cry on Monday when I have to Fedex it back.

Happy little guy:

Oh! The bokeh and compression! Isn't it lovely? 100mm f/2, ISO 100. Can't wait to see what it can do in the huge cathedral for the wedding tomorrow.

100mm goodness

I can tell you right now that I am going to have to be FORCED to send this lens and (better) camera body that I'm renting back. I am so used to shooting at 50mm that 100 is a huge, huge change. I like how far I can be from William (or the bride and groom this weekend) and still get in close. People are more natural this way than when they have a lens up in their face.

The black & white above was one of the first 10 or so shots I took, so I was getting used to the completely different shooting experience (not only the framing, but the lens alone weighs almost 4 lbs, which may not sound like a lot, but it is! My wrists hurt already).

W had a meltdown (I don't blame him, it was 99 degrees!) so we cut playtime short, but I can't wait to take it back out tomorrow. I am seriously in heaven!

Check out Little Mister's face at the end of our 20 minutes at the park. Boys will be boys!

Pool Boy

First day of the year at the "real" (non-baby-pool-on-our-deck) pool.

William looked so big to me drinking from his juice box... tear!

Note: didn't want to risk taking my nice (and on my camera 99% of the time 50mm 1.4) lens, so I used my kit for the first time in awhile... it was painful! I overexposed this by a full stop to get semi decent light in the shade. What a different good glass makes. (And speaking of which, I am getting a fabulous 35-100mm f/2 in the mail tomorrow; renting it for a wedding this weekend. I am SO excited to play with it.)

Just like a man

Did a little Father's Day shoot for one of my favorite families - love this guy!

Evening

We were out of town this weekend, and drove 6 hours home on Sunday. That night rolled around without me having taken a picture all day, and W was already in bed, so I snuck out on the porch. These are the flowers on the pretty dogwood that hangs over our deck.

Little Trooper

This little guy actually wasn't so little - he's 8 days old here, and was 9 lbs. 12 oz at birth!

His Daddy is a State Trooper... check out his little partner. Way too cute.

Mother of the Year

"Let's go use some of your day-old pool water to water the potted plants!" turned into... this.

What was I thinking? Of course he heard only the word "pool," and having pants and socks on didn't slow him down for a second!

Just a "Mom shot" today, but it makes me laugh.

Daddy's home!

I posted a similar photo a few months ago. Love how you can see the smile in his eyes as he greets Dad coming home from work.

Outtake

W was cracking himself (and me) up before bedtime on his changing table. He was making a funny face, which he did on command for a few minutes, but of course when I grabbed the camera, I got this.

The lighting looks awful since it was dark out and I didn't set the flash properly, and William just looks... confused and annoyed with me. Sorry buddy, you know I just can't stop taking pictures of you!
